Rwanda (/ruːˈɑːndə/ or /ruːˈændə/ (listen); Kinyarwanda:U Rwanda[u.ɾɡwanda]), officially the Republic of Rwanda (Kinyarwanda:Repubulika y'u Rwanda; French:République du Rwanda), is a sovereign state in central and east Africa and one of the smallest countries on the African mainland.
